Student leadership

SMALL SCHOOL, BIG OPPORTUNITIES IN LEADERSHIP

At Hurstville Grove Infants we are committed to promoting and fostering leadership opportunities for all students. The school encourages all students to explore their leadership skills and embark upon at least one leadership experience during their time at The Grove.

Leadership opportunities offered at our school:

  • School Captains
  • Student Representative Council
  • Class Captains

SCHOOL CAPTAINS

In 2016, the roles of School Captains and Vice Captains were introduced as a new leadership initiative at Hurstville Grove.

Each year, students are given the opportunity to nominate themselves for these positions. Nominees are required to prepare and present a short speech explaining why the would be an outstanding student leader, employing school values and making a positive impact supporting and representing the students of our school.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCILĀ (SRC)

The SRC are elected by their classmates each semester and during this period they represent the voice of their peers. There is a focus on community and school based projects. They run sustainable initiatives such as Return and Earn, worm farms and fundraisers for childhood and environmental causes.

CLASS CAPTAINS

Class captains are elected each term by their peers. These positions provide a mechanism for students to inspire other students to do their best and offer the opportunity of building leadership skills.
